To date, over 80,000 genocide perpetrators have been released from prison back into the communities in which they committed their crimes. While the country is experiencing peace in daily life, many of Rwanda’s citizens continue to live in unreconciled relationships with each other – still experiencing the deep hatred, bitterness and fear that have been a part of their lives since the genocide. Supporting and mobilizing Rwanda's survivors and repentant perpetrators to experience healing and reconciliation is our priority. In addition, 120 of these reconciled individuals now work with Rwanda Partners as Reconciliation Ambassadors – spreading the message of forgiveness throughout their communities.
